International Friendship Day on July 30th and Happy Friendship Day on August 2nd remind everyone that having loving platonic relationships makes life enjoyable. Strengthening friendships gives a person a way to bounce off ideas, double-check things told, and with social media make friends all over the world.
The designated day actually originated as a marketing strategy for the Hallmark Card company back in the 1930s. But Congress decided it would be a good idea for Americans to make friends, and in 1935 it formalized in the USA with the August 2nd date.
In 2011 the United Nations appointed the date of July 30 as the international one. Millennials expanded friendship to new heights internationally with their gifts for creating online networks and personalities linked to social media.
With 81 percent of Millennials on Facebook with an average of 250 friends or more, they form groups. They take advice from peers about products, procedures, and information.
As grand as all that is, in the Millennial generation still one of the best friends a person can have is the friend to self. Most Millennial advice about life often leads a person to that. Go do what you need to do, and we’ll come to check on you.
Being the friend to yourself
A person wants to see their friends, of course. One way a person can ensure they will see their friends means getting an eye checkup.
