- By the third week in the womb, the eyes develop from a neural tube, and yet newborns only see 8 to 15 inches away in black, white and gray for several weeks. At about four months color vision develops and sight changes.
- Corneas of the eyes hold no blood and do not contain blood vessels. The tears and aqueous humor give the cornea nutrients.

- MIT neuroscientists determined that the human brain processes images from the eye in 13 milliseconds adding evidence that vision finds concepts first then fills in details due to the rapid processing speed.
- Eye muscles rank as the most active muscle in the body.
